House Plans and Ordinances

Image
As I work toward my little home, the GoFundMe is working. Money is slowly coming in. The plans are simple and on track for completion; they just lack appliances. The toughest part is locating a piece of property to legally build in Columbia County, Ga.  I am looking to buy a small piece of property to pay cash for and begin to build.  I am looking for an acre at most to put a slab foundation. Tiny houses are becoming increasingly popular in the United States, and Georgia is no exception. However, not all counties in the state allow the construction or  placement of tiny houses . It can be challenging to navigate the legal and regulatory landscape surrounding tiny houses in Georgia. Still, with the right information, it is possible to find the right county for your tiny house. Several  counties in Georgia permit  the construction and placement of tiny houses. According to the search results, some of these counties include Fulton, DeKalb, Barrow, Gwinnett, a...

Another Night With the Zombies

Around here, there are what some call Wanderers; I simply call them Zombies.  After I watched one elderly woman. Bump into my side table over and over again. After dumping my container of art pens and pencils on the floor, but acted like nothing happened. Just bump, bump, bump against the table while seemingly sound asleep. Not only one visitor came into our room that night.  There were two more. One is in a wheelchair and another a walker.  The wheelchair lady was rolling around, eating toothpaste. The walker seems intrigued by a picture of my grandchildren.  Such is life here in the nursing home, late at night. I would be sitting in the dark, but I keep the television on to drown out the screams from women having nightmares and men dreaming about their past childhood adventures.  But the late-night talk shows drown them out.  Sadly, I do expect that the only thing that calms me at night is.  It could also be the exact cause of all the zombie gu...

Nana Seeks Home

Still here in the Nursing/Rehab center.  I woke up to three different Zombies in my room last night. Since this is a non-restraining unit, the zombies walk into other rooms, stealing belongings all the time. One my 'grandchildren's photos has been missing for weeks.  I don't care if they are eight or eighty-eight, come in my room, you will be playing the game of "fool around and find out". Things on bedside tables tend to disappear.  One morning, my phone and glasses were gone. A CNA found them in a room 7 doors down from mine, a Zombie, must have taken both together.      While I am grateful not to be sleeping under a pile of cardboard. But the Zombies here are out of control. I am still waiting and working on my GoFundMe to build a small home or pole barn.  The biggest issue I am facing is that the code o rdinances regarding property sizes, particularly concerning minimum lot sizes and building footprints, are commonly used in zoning regulation...

Some Heroes Wear Back Packs, Not Capes

Image
As the grandchildren and I were making Christmas cookies, I suffered a stroke.  Turns out I was in great hands.  My grandchildren were well-trained in emergencies,   Zoie calmly phoned 9-1-1 and gave the address like a pro, not a small child. Toby gathered our dog and put it in the kennel. All children should be able to provide their address and the type of emergency. And this began my 16-plus months of attempting to go home. If my two little heroes had not helped me, I might not be here. So when I say my favorite heroes don't wear capes, I mean they wear book bags instead. These two are waiting for me to come home.  I have missed so much.  I have missed church, dance recitals, learning to ride their new bikes, new dresses, playing outside, our dog had to be re-homed, the Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.  I have missed  Special Olympics and coaching my little teams to victory, and going to the movies. I have spent days on bi...
