I Am Hungry

Image
I really did not think hunger would. It would be an issue at my age. Living here, meals are prepared, and it is eat or go hungry. Tonight, the grilled fish smelled too bad to eat. I ate the carrots, but left the burnt tater tots. This is all the more reason I need your donation to my GoFundMe. Please consider a donation, no matter the amount; it will be appreciated. Like too many American disabled adults, I am surviving in a substandard skilled nursing care/rehab center. The diet is a disgrace, the lack of CNA's, and the lack of caring among them, is troubling enough, but now we have a strange man accused of touching patients. I really did not expect to be begging on the internet to build a granny flat, https://www.gofundme.com/manage/98v7x2-disabled-but-capable/updates Typical breakfast: carton eggs, plain grits, and unbuttered white toast.

I Need to Find A Home, and Quick!

Image
As the government shutdown continues, nursing homes are considering shutting down. That leaves me between a rock and a hard place, and I could be on the streets .  Like many other Americans, I was made dependent on a nursing home because my funds are exhausted.  This room costs $ 7900. a month of pure profit for the nursing home.  Since my medications and meals are paid for by the government. On October 1,  2025 , the  federal government  of the  United States  began a  shutdown  at 12:01 a.m. EDT as a result of congressional failure to pass appropriations legislation for the 2026 fiscal year, which began that day. The  shutdown  resulted from partisan disagreements over  federal  spending levels, foreign aid rescissions , and health insurance subsidies . Once the dust settles, thousands of disabled adults and children could become wards of their home states . Please consider donating to my fundraiser https:...

Eric Celebrates Another Birthday with Me In Here!

Image
As I celebrated my son's 33rd birthday here in the rehab center, I am reminded how terribly I miss home and family. I am more determined than ever to find property and build a kit home. The homes are affordable and look nice. I'm ready to leave here. Please consider donating; even $5 will be more than I had before. I don't want to spend another holiday or family event here! I have missed holidays, birthday days, and family celebrations, but I need to get on the ball and find a small piece of property, or a land contract to build a Granny Flat. This is the one I like the best. Two bedrooms, two baths, a living room, and a kitchen. There are many affordable options: Details are on the listing.

Disabled But Capable; Our Introduction

Image
Everyone Deserves Safe and Affordable Housing, Despite Disability As a physically disabled adult, looking for housing in Georgia is difficult and almost impossible.  Instead, I have worked on our group, a non-profit, and approached big corporations to help financially. I am working on some form of land co. company contract and prefab housing.   After suffering a stroke at Christmas time in 2023,  I lost my housing.  And even though I am still capable of living on my own,  finding a home is not easy. I have worked through many hours of physical therapy and am ready to go home.  I am here paying $ 1006.  month for my care, the government pays the other $ 7,900 a month! I am considering sharing a home with another Disabled But Capable person, Connie   The other person is working to get into a home for the two of us. This is Connie G. We are both looking for a small home and business to operate. Having also suffered a stroke, and had the same dif...

An Ode to an Old Man

I have spent more than a week in the Appling Behavioral Health unit in the small town of Baxley, Georgia.  It should be renamed "'Hell'".  And I am filing a case of fraud against the agency.  I still do not believe I should have been sent there.  I am in my right mind m filing and returned stronger and even more determined to find a small plot of land and a prefab home.  I had come here for physical therapy and to see the grandchildren more often.  And a doctor whom I have seen maybe three times for less than 30 seconds each time, put me on a 10-13, and had me forced into an ambulance, taking me hours from home.   I am still seeking legal advice. I had been marked as defiant, aggressive, and having assaulted my roommate.   As I was spoken to in terms that can only be described as scolding a small child, during our first meeting, it was told to me that since I had called the governor, senators, and the ombudsman, they were preparing for m...

Despite the Risk of Eviction From My Skilled Nursing Rehab Cemter

Image
Day 2 -of Wearing the same clothes T   While I would love everyone to believe I am living my best life here in the Lollipop Guild. The opposite is true. At the risk of being evicted from this place and having my fundraisers stopped, I am going to tell you the real reasons you should never put a loved one in a rehab/skilled nursing health center. First, the grubbiness, just sheer grime. Nothing that some regularly mopped floors would not take care of, but the wall edges and corners of crud. Shower shoes are highly suggested. Where I am 50 to 65 asses are washed on every given day. But, I have only seen with my own eyes a shower cleaned only once in 1 year and six months. And when I say the towel used to scrub the floor was filthy enough to make you puke, I mean it, and I did. Now, since I can not afford shower shoes, I wear socks in the shower and throw them away afterwards. Since many skilled nursing and rehabilitation healthcare centers are not allowed to restrain patients...

House Plans and Ordinances

Image
As I work toward my little home, the GoFundMe is working. Money is slowly coming in. The plans are simple and on track for completion; they just lack appliances. The toughest part is locating a piece of property to legally build in Columbia County, Ga.  I am looking to buy a small piece of property to pay cash for and begin to build.  I am looking for an acre at most to put a slab foundation. Tiny houses are becoming increasingly popular in the United States, and Georgia is no exception. However, not all counties in the state allow the construction or  placement of tiny houses . It can be challenging to navigate the legal and regulatory landscape surrounding tiny houses in Georgia. Still, with the right information, it is possible to find the right county for your tiny house. Several  counties in Georgia permit  the construction and placement of tiny houses. According to the search results, some of these counties include Fulton, DeKalb, Barrow, Gwinnett, a...
