An Ode to an Old Man

I have spent more than a week in the Appling Behavioral Health unit in the small town of Baxley, Georgia.  It should be renamed "'Hell'".  And I am filing a case of fraud against the agency.

I still do not believe I should have been sent there.  I am in my right mind m filing and returned stronger and even more determined to find a small plot of land and a prefab home.  I had come here for physical therapy and to see the grandchildren more often.  And a doctor whom I have seen maybe three times for less than 30 seconds each time, put me on a 10-13, and had me forced into an ambulance, taking me hours from home.

I am still seeking legal advice. I had been marked as defiant, aggressive, and having assaulted my roommate.

As I was spoken to in terms that can only be described as scolding a small child, during our first meeting, it was told to me that since I had called the governor, senators, and the ombudsman, they were preparing for me to do the same"'Antics"'

Firstly, I did not call the governor. Secondly, the ombudsman was called on my behalf. And lastly, contacting my elected officials is within my First Amendment right.  The email to the senators was about how difficult it is to find public housing as a disabled female.

My concerns past the threats for using my First Amendment rights were for other residents.

First: Larry, 82 years old, was sent for brushing away a nurse's hand when he was choking on medication.  Sent wearing just a gown, he commented, "' Today's as good as any to die'".  He had told me he had no family, his wife had died, and he was tired of being lonely.  Then he fell,  I was upset, the CNAs said,"'He got his ass down there, he can get his ass up.'"

Secondly, an elderly white woman, brought in from the emergency room for disruptive behavior, no one attempted to get her a translator or assistance in speaking with anyone, but they jerked her around despite the cast from her shoulder to her wrist.

  1. I was contacted by the Ombudsman and left a wrong number to call back. Either she works for some Tax Defense place, or it is the wrong mail box. Either way I have not spoken to her, since I filed the complainent.
