Nana Needs To Go Home

Being the Queen is  often wonderful, sometimes it is difficult.  Since my stroke in 2023, things have gone from hard to harder in no time.

Not only have I lost more than almost 3 years time, but I have missed my granddaughters dance recitals, but also Special Olympics, dances, dinners, family trips, vacations, school events, church programs, family gatherings, school photo days,  and funerals!

On December 20, 2023 the grandchildren and I were baking cookies to send to family members when I suffered a stroke at home.  Thankfully the children knew what to do.  After calling 9-1-1 and giving the information to the dispatcher.  The children put our dog in the kennel, to keep it safe.  Within minutes our yard was filled with  neighbors, family, and people wishing me well and a fast recovery.

Z and T my favorite grandchildren,  Who saved me after I had a stroke.  Had it not been for this quick acting duo,  I am not sure I could have made it home.  They still sleep in my bed often to keep it warm for me when I come home.

The idea that I would be home quickly, was dashed quickly.  I am still here now nearly 3 years later.  I can not find affordable housing,  And with public housing the wait in Augusta is more than five to eight years.  And even then there is no promise of an available unit.  In the small town of Harlem, Georgia the waiting list is at least 2 years, just to peek, again, no promises.

So I have spent the last two years, in therapy making my legs stronger and making helping me get ready to go home.  This is where I need your help.  I am working to build a tiny home so I can finish my therapy at home.  Because of the stress here, getting home is my only choice.

I have found several ideas, including a yurt or a tiny home,  Please send me your ideas.
